Sharon Talboys is a public health expert with with a focus on public health emergency response. She served as Utah’s training and exercise director for pandemic preparedness and led Utah’s full scale pandemic exercise in 2007. She served in the State Health Operations Center as a planning chief during the H1N1 pandemic and managed CDC and HRSA preparedness grants for the Utah Department of Health from 2007-2010. She is well versed in the complexities of public health responses and understands the need for coordination across emergency support functions. She is particularly concerned about the needs of people who are vulnerable and more disproportionately affected by COVID19 as a disease and those who are disproportionately impacted by consequences of mitigation measures. She is currently the President of the Utah Public Health Association and is an Assistant Professor of Public Health at the University of Utah. She hold’s a Masters of Public Health from Emory University and a PhD in Public Health from the University of Utah.
